It is Christmas every time you let God love others through you...
Yes, it is Christmas every time you smile at your brother and offer him your hand. Mother Teresa
As we prepare for the coming of Christ, we realize there are so many that need our help, not only locally but globally. As a loving and caring community, Stella Maris School would like to touch the hearts of others with our annual Christmas Toy Drive.
We will be collecting contributions for our Stella Maris Toy Drive with the beginning of Advent, starting Monday, December 3rd until Friday, December 14, 2012. Donations may be brought to your child's classroom or the school office.
While all toys are appreciated, gifts for older children and teens are especially needed. Please remember this group as well when making your shopping list.
Thank you in advance for your generosity in making this holiday season a happy and Holy time for children in Amherstburg as well as other children within our Catholic School Community who are less fortunate.
May God bless you and your family.

HOUSE OF SHALOM TRIP... Recently, at the House of Shalom, our Grade 8 students spent the day participating in leadership activities. They also got to explore the House, do skits, give each other positive labels, and debate various topics. They also had a great lunch. Kyra Breshamer and Chris White both said that "it was a great experience and a lot of fun." We thank the House of Shalom for being such wonderful hosts!
GO STINGRAYS! ... Both volleyball teams have begun their seasons. The girls's team played against St. Bernard and St. Anthony, winning one game and losing five. The boys' volleyball team also played both schools, and recently defeated Holy Cross. Our model club is going great so far. A couple of students are done their model, but Mr. Way says they still have to make their stands. We are proud of all of our students who participate in these extra-curricular activities.
LEST WE FORGET... On Friday, November 9, Stella Maris held a Remembrance Day Liturgy in our gymnasium. We showed our respect by having readings, songs and a wonderful video called "Pittance of Time". Our school community is extremely thankful for the freedom of life that we enjoy. Many in attendance said the Liturgy was great. A big thank you to Mr. Dethomasis' 6/7 and Mr. Mathieson's 4/5 classes for leading us in this special event.
BULLY AWARENESS WEEK... On Monday, November 12 and Thursday, November 15, Constable Melissa Taylor of the Amherstburg Police Department came to our school for "Bully Awareness Week". She spent time in most of our classes and told us about how bullying is wrong. She also talked about cyberbullying, verbal bullying and physical bullying. Many people have been bullied over the years for how they look, what they wear, and many other things. Every year, our school wears pink T-shirts to represent this week. Bullying should never happen because other people are different, or for any reason. Just because they are different doesn't mean they should get bullied!
DECEMBER PREVIEW... On December 3, Mrs. Maitre and Mrs. Pietrangelo are bringing their students to John R. Park Homestead for a field trip. Stella Maris will be having our annual Christmas family dinner on December 13 at the Verdi Club. It will be an exciting two days on the 17th and 18th for our JK/SK classes as they will go to the Verdi Club and have breakfast with Santa! We will also be having an Advent Mass on December 19 at 1:15 PM in our gymnasium. Our Student of the Month assembly will be on December 20. We at Stella Maris want to wish our entire community a safe and happy holiday. Merry Christmas to all!
